It never surprises me that every time I read manga, especially romance manga, that the man in the spotlight falls in love with another woman besides the leading lady. So imagine my utter surprise when Manami left the baseball team’s managing position to pursue a opening in the school cooking club, which is exacly where Haruto is. Now, I’ll keep you up to speed – after a favor gone awry in Tokyo, Yuzuki, obviously, wanted nothing to do with Haruto. Mannami asked Haruto to play boyfriend in front of a friend of hers who knew that Manami was in the neighborhood. The critical moment came when Haruto and Manami were holding hands as the train carrying Manami’s friend sped off only to discover Yuzuki on the other side of the subway. Now, OneManga Forum members have termed Manami as a Ice Queen for the disrespect toward Haruto that allowed Yuzuki to snag him in the first place. However, I can safely say that she is not another Suzuka. My assumption is that Yuzuki was the trigger to the icy side. Whenever Yuzuki showed up, Manami acted the insecure, possesive woman that everybody wanted to see. I have come to about 2 conclusions about her, which I will lay down in two posts. The first, with Ebeneezer Eba out of the picture, Manami is free to reveal her true self to Haruto. That side has always been a part of her character – she didn’t see the light after Haruto told her that Yuzuki dumed him. Something tells me that this is the beginning of a discovery period. In the next post, I will get into this a little more.
